Know what you want the camera to do. Identify, Recognise or Observe

Despite what you see on TV, a camera cannot identify a person at the back of a scene, when they only occupy 10% of the total height.

Even with Mega Pixel cameras, we are limited in what can be achieved.

As a rule of thumb,

  • If you want to see what is happening in a general area, this is ‘Observe
  • If you want to watch your own staff, who you know, this is ‘Recognise
  • If you want to publish an image of the person who robbed you and you don’t know, this is ‘Identify

Today, this is not a surprise since many more intruders and burglars are trying to steal from anyone – from a home with no guards perhaps or business establishments with no form of security measures. Because of that, you need to make sure that your business establishment is fully equipped with a security tools such as a surveillance camera.
