A 4MP vandal resistant dome with true day night switching, a 3.3-12mm motorised zoom lens with p-iris lens and two way audio.
On first impression this vandal dome camera looks robust in construction. Housed in a 152mm diameter IP66 rated cast metal housing are the smarts and all terminations, with sufficient space to connect the cables and keep them away from the moving parts.

Functionally the IP camera makes installation easy through the use of the integrated 3.6X optical zoom lens, allowing you to both the camera up and point it in the right direction then from the comfort of a PC set the lens to the optimum view.
With the ability for alarms to drive the lens to a preset position, the default view can be of a wide angle of for example a car park entry providing the ability to detect and recognise people walking through the scene as shown to the right.
As soon as a car reaches the entry boom gate, the camera zooms to the 12mm lens and provides a number plate reading resolution as shown below.
The same would apply to a petrol station for drive offs or a door opening in a large hall.
The 2-way audio also means if the system is being remotely monitored, an announcement can be made advising an intruder they are being watched and to leave immediately.
Expected coverage patterns
The following gives an indication of the effective coverage for observe, detect, recognise, identify and number plates as determined using the 3D design software settings for Australian Standards AS4806
At the wide angle setting the ACTi KCM-7211gives us a 77.22° horizontal field of view.
This will allow us to read a number plate at 5 metres away in a 6 metre wide scene as per the image left.
A person could be identified at 6 metres (the boy in yellow below) or a known person recognised at 12 metres in a 14 metre wide scene (lady in bikini)
Going to the telephoto end of the lens, we get a 22.62° horizontal field of view, which is good for a car registration at 17 meters away in a 6 metre wide scene, ID at 19 metres by 8 metres and recognition at 25 meters by 10 metres.
