Depression- A friend in need

I had a friend this week attempt suicide by over dosing on something. I feel terrible for them. I can’t really explain what I feel. Just an emptiness that someone I know has felt so worthless that it comes to this.

Depression is a horrible illness that so many people suffer. I have had my times with it as has my wife along with this person who we met through the illness bringing us into the same circle. How can someone sink so low that they feel they can’t unload on you in a time of desperate need? When you have been through their tough times in the past but they have come to a point of not wanting to live anymore, feeling they are a burden to the world. No worth to anyone.

How do we reach such a helpless point!

[easyazon-block asin=”1442198222″ align=”right”]My friend has been in an induced coma and on kidney dialysis during the week but is now conscious. Today we found out their kidney are ok, which is good news. Imagine having to live with dialysis the rest of your life as a result. In my view it is better than being dead but I’m sure they are not thinking that at present.

My friends, if you know someone going through a period of depression, reach out to them.

Being someone to talk to is the best thing many of us can do but are often too scared to do due to not understanding the illness.
